Job Description

Purpose and Context of the Job

Comair Limited, a JSE listed Aviation Company, is looking for applicants for a Processing Unit Supervisor position based in Randburg, Gauteng at Comair's Travel offices. The Processing Unit Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the efficient running of the processing unit in order to maximise productivity and revenue.

Key Performance Areas
  • To lead and supervise the processing team to ensure that they effectively carry out their duties
  • To ensure the ITCs operate efficiently in order to grow revenue for CRTS
  • To manage and implement systems administration and procedures to ensure maximum productivity, accountability and efficiency within the department
  • To maintain a detailed knowledge of the travel industry / systems in order to respond to problems effectively and timeously.
  • To effectively manage relationships with suppliers and customers in terms of quality customer service and communications.

Required Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (Essential)
  • Tertiary qualification in Travel and Tourism or related field (Essential)
  • GDS qualifications in one of the following (Amadeus, Sabre Interactive/ Host & Galileo) (Essential) 
  • Advanced International Fares & Ticketing (Essential)
  • BSP certificate (Desirable)
  • IATA/UFTAA (Desirable)
  • Papertrail (Desirable)
  • 3 years’ experience in a IATA accredited travel company handling domestic & International reservations, ticketing & refunds (Essential) 
  • With 2 year QuikTrav experience (essential)
  • Handling various client types e.g. merchants & ITC’s, including set up & servicing thereof (Essential)
  • 1 year supervisory experience / senior consultant role (Essential) 
Without a relevant Tertiary Qualification: 
  • 5 years’ experience in a IATA accredited travel company handling domestic and international reservations, ticketing and refunds (Essential) 
  • Of which 2 years in a supervisory role / senior consultant role (Essential)
  • With 2 year QuikTrav experience (Essential)
  • Handling various client types e.g. merchants & ITC’s, including set up & servicing thereof (Essential)

General Details

Purpose and context of the job: The Processing Unit Supervisor reports directly to the Operations Manager: Retail Travel. This position is responsible for ensuring that all reservations/ ticketing requests are actioned timeously and efficiently according to policies while ensuring maximum revenue growth. The Processing Unit Supervisor manages the process of enquiry distribution to the team. Tickets and refunds processes by departments include those of the Reservations Teams, Independent Travel Consultants (ITC’s) & Comair merchants. The Processing Unit Supervisor will also be responsible for set up & support of new/ existing ITC’s, building relationships & ensuring they have the business tools to operate efficiently to grow CRTS.
