Job Description

We are looking for an individual with several years of experience in the travel industry, with specific experience in safari/tour operations, good understanding of reservations systems and strong team leadership, with proven track record in a senior management role.

Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills, and a high level of computer proficiency are required. Candidate must have a minimum of 5+ years of specific managerial/team leader experience, as well as knowledge of business systems, strategic development, statistical analysis, excellent planning/problem-solving and ability to work under pressure.

The overall purpose of this position is to increase and deliver sales within our Scheduled tours and FIT departments. This includes coordinating, booking and selling of scheduled and tailor-made tours, whilst ensuring that a high quality of efficient service is maintained. The position entails setting achievable targets, and monitoring, motivating and managing the teams of consultants, managing supplier reservations, and providing strategic business management and planning.

The management responsibilities include issue management: (Investigating and resolving internal issues and complaints; advising consultants on products, situation solutions (quotes, rate negotiations, payment issues etc); directing supporting managers and team leaders in decision making; approval of credit notes, refunds resolution of client and agent complaints); staff performance reviews, team performance management, business development and maintenance, including policies, systems, improvements, attending regular meetings pertaining to sales, direct reports, operations and department head meetings; participate as a productive member of the management team and contribute to strategic and operational planning and achievement of the company’s vision & objectives; development of growth aspects for reservations (CRM, Reservations system, Welcome packs etc); recruitment, staff development and other HR functions.
