Job Description

The Head of Technical Operations reports to the CIO and is responsible for establishing, reviewing and enhancing the company’s technical vision and leading all aspects of the company’s Infrastructure and Technology Platforms development.  The Head of Technical Operations will be a senior leadership role based in the RSA overseeing South Africa and Namibia, playing an integral role in the company’s strategic direction, development, and future growth.

 

The role encompasses the following functional areas: Centralised Equipment / Servers, Network Services (WAN/LAN), Telephony/Communications systems, Active Directory, Global Applications, System Security, Technical project implementation and technical and business application support. In addition, you will have responsibility for hardware and software management lifecycles (in terms of maintenance and software licensing). You will achieve streamlined efficiencies by growing and mentoring the team, in terms of technical skill, business acumen and leadership ability. Ensuring that Flight Centre Travel Group  in infrastructure Services systems are highly available, and any incidents are resolved in accordance with agreed operational targets.  You will also own and manage relationships and contract with key technology service partners.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Educated to a University Degree Level (Computer Science or Information Systems would be a plus)
  • Should possess strong knowledge and experience in the area of capacity planning
  • Should have experience in developing capacity plans with the constraints provided by the client and manage them without affecting SLAs
  • Solid hand-on skills in the areas of Computer metrics and instrumentation, Performance Analysis, Capacity Planning
  • At least 5 years experience in planning, managing, and coordinating complex technical projects.
  • At least 5 years experience in developing technical documentation of IT system environments
  • Knowledge and experience of administering, supporting Citrix desktop technology
  • Knowledge experience of administering, configuring, managing and supporting VMWare
  • In depth knowledge of RSA and NA regulatory compliance
  • Practical experience in PCIDSS to latest standards
  • Practical experience in ISO 27001 to latest standards
