Job Description

FlySafair requires the services of Manager: Sales and Distribution that will report to the Head of Sales and Distribution. The candidate will be based at our head office in Kempton Park. The successful candidate will be responsible for the key sales and distribution relationships for the airline including our distribution partners, our group quoting and sales, our corporate accounts, our relationships with the travel trade and key VIP clients. The successful candidate will personally manage accounts but also direct a team that manages the same.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Key Account Management on the day-to-day running of our distribution relationships including but not limited to relationships with Travelstart, Investec, Pick n Pay, Computicket etc.
  • Ensuring that reporting is timeous and accurate, that all accounts are in good standing and the management of co-marketing activities;
  • Run a small team that directs a super-service desk looking after key accounts for the airline and manages group quotations. This desk is dedicated to corporate clients, and to high value VIP customers who require an exceptional level of service;
  • Maintain relationships with the trade by conducting client visits and attending educational seminars where you pitch the airline and our suite of offerings. Occasionally this will include visiting trade shows;
  • Understand and manage revenue maximization across our distribution partner network. This requires understanding and managing revenue generation models and the technical integrations behind our distribution with these partners. Attached to this is also the management of the FlySafair customer experience for customers who do not book directly with us – ensuring that they arrive at the airport with correct expectations set;
  • Maintenance and vetting of GDS reservations, ensuring that bookings are maximized, agents are educated, costs are kept low, and that revenue is collected and accurately accounted for.
  • Reporting must be accurate and timeous;
  • The candidate will need to be the voice of the client and the voice of the distribution partner within the organization which may, at times, healthily put you at odds with the commercial team;
  • This role will require some local travel;
  • Will work closely with head of Sales and Distribution, but will need to manage service desk team independently and be able to pitch airline to, and visit clients without supervision;
  • While this job officially requires normal office hours, it will often be required that you work unusual hours, being ready to make some correct reservations for key clients during travel times and managing any travel disruptions.

Required Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Some tertiary education in travel, project management or equivalent
  • Previous Sales and Distribution related experience
  • Must have managed a team before
  • Travel experience important (at an airline or travel agency)
  • Must have worked with GDS systems
