Job Description

The responsibilities of the position includes:

- To propose on Southern & South Africa, via correspondence, to Wholesale
Tour Operators. This includes providing expert recommendations and
improving proposed itineraries.

- To ensure that systems and disciplines are adhered to as per the Pricing
and Product Manager’s instructions i.r.o. accounting and quality control.
E.g. All aspects of the proposal including excel quotes, contracts,
correspondence, service levels to the client and itinerary must be of the
required standard.

- To accurately cost group and/or FIT packages.

- To work with the Pricing Manager to collate and coordinate rates and
product specially negotiated for particular clients or projects.

- To call for rates and information as required at the instruction of the
Pricing Manager.

- When appropriate, to use your initiative and provide recommendations and
creativity to assist to offer optimum solutions to our customers.

- To understand contracts and the importance of all related details, child
policies, cancellation policies, etc and to check if they adhere to the
Thompsons Africa requirements.

- To build relationships with customers and suppliers by maintaining a
friendly, knowledgeable and efficient manner.

- To attend Product Knowledge sessions and keep up-to-date with new
trends and developments in the industry.

- To travel when required on educational and familiarisation trips and to file
a report immediately on return.

Required Qualifications

- Travel Degree / Diploma and/or other related post matric qualification.
- Previous experience in an Inbound Operator environment will be highly
beneficial.
- Minimum 2 years related experience
- Must be a team player.
- Must be able to sell and close the deal
- Provide high quality, prompt and professional service.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent relationship building skills.
- Must understand the importance of margin.
- Must have the ability to negotiate rates with suppliers.
- Extensive South and Southern Africa geographical and product knolwedge.
- Able to work under pressure and deadlines.
