Job Description

The MICE Consultant is responsible for accurately and efficiently handling all aspects of MICE Consulting, from initial client brief, site inspections, to proposal and completion on acceptance.  In addition, the consultant may be required to travel domestically and internationally to accompany the client and manage the program on the ground. 

This position performs at an expert/ top intermediate to senior level and demonstrates an extensive understanding and applicability of all areas of the MICE space along with a sound understanding of the travel industry. 
 
Duties
  • To liaise directly with the client at all levels, from booker to CEO.
  • To clearly understand the clients brief, research all aspects of their requirements, prepare a proposal accordingly with detailed costings, present to the customer and execute to finality.
  • Scope includes, domestic, regional and international arrangements using the required department procedures.
  • Source the correct suppliers which would include the likes of, hotels, DMCs, event & team building suppliers.
  • Quotes & Proposals to be created as per department procedures. 
  • Site inspections
  • Projects to be managed by consultant from beginning through to completion, including travelling with the client when necessary.
  • Financial reconciliations working closely with the finance department to ensure total reconciliation of all aspects of the program. 
  • Practice teamwork and comradery within the work environment

Required Qualifications

Knowledge required:
  • Matric Certificate
  • Must be fully proficient in English with a good understanding of the written language.
  • Fully proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent understanding of conference trends
  • Be comfortable in your knowledge of domestic, regional and international destinations
  • The use of Amadeus or Galileo is not a pre-requisite however, general understanding of the airlines and routings is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Groups, Incentives or Conference Consultant.
  • Must have travelled with groups locally and internationally with groups
Skills required:

General Details

Important note:

All applicants must have a current passport. This position requires that the consultant travel for site inspections and with the client on the programs throughout the each year, locally, regionally and internationally.
 
The position sometimes requires the consultant to work outside of 08:00 – 17:00 project dependent, especially on the ground when managing a project.
 
Available after-hours for emergency service.
 
Preference will be given to EE Candidates.
