Financial Accountant (Permanent) Gauteng- Randburg -Finance

Job Description

Red Carpet Travel is looking for an ambitious Accountant to join our dynamic travel team in our Randburg office.  The successful candidate will maintain the integrity of the financial accounting function within the division in accordance with sound accounting practices, company policy and legislative requirements. 

The objective of this role is to ensure that our Company’s reporting requirements are met, to provide management with accurate, complete and timeous reports and to comply with the current legislation.

Responsibilities and Duties 

  • Oversee, implement and maintain financial accounting / administration and internal control processes and procedures; 
  • Identify financial accounting risks and contribute towards developing and implementing mitigating strategies; 
  • Assist in maintaining a budgeting system and assist with setting up the planning parameters; 
  • Assist in the preparation of and implement the annual planning and budgeting process; 
  • Assist in the preparation of the budget and compile quarterly forecasts and annual budgets and complete accurate consolidations for forecasts and budgets; 
  • Provide training and support to users regarding budget control and variance reports; 
  • Report on all cost activities (e.g. budget, forecasts) and on work in progress in line with company policies, legislation and IFRS; 
  • Report on variances between budgets, commitments and expenditure; 
  • Assist with refining and enhancing financial reporting for the division; 
  • Liaise with and assist internal and external auditors as and when needed (internal auditors might liaise more with accountant); 
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations;
  • Management and Reconciliation of Revenue and Recoveries as an Inter-Company and Inter Group level;
  • Operate as a strategic link between the accounts team and finance manager;
  • Preparation of management reports;
  • Management and control of all revenue streams;
  • Management and control of expenditure
  • Manage vendors - Ensure that all suppliers are loaded correctly in SAP and via our travel system;
  • Be available to assist the Accounts team with the management of key stakeholder relationships.
  • Maintain and develop corporate image and reputation and protect and develop the group's brand. Represent the group at various community and/or business meetings to promote the group.
  • Provide value added reporting and interact with managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations to aid in long-term and short-term decision making.
  • Remain flexible to the wider business needs of the group by rendering assistance for ad hoc projects and duties as required by management.

Fixed Asset Register

  • Update and manage the Fixed Asset Register of the company
  • Ensure all assets are fairly presented at their Net realizable value

  • Strong client report and organisational skills; 
  • Ensure governance and controls are implemented;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, able to attend to queries in a timely matter;

  • Team Player; 
  • Able to organised and able to handle high volume of work;
  • BComm/CIMA; 
  • 3 Years relevant experience
  • Experience within the travel space highly advantageous
