Team leader – Accounts Payable (Permanent) Gauteng- Johannesburg -Retail

Job Description

  • Review and Provide Financial Reports - Run reports on the system – daily, weekly and monthly and provide to Head of Finance
  • Provide regional information to the respective Head of Finance Region such as expenditure, collection and cash flow position
  • Build client relationships with debtors and suppliers
  • Deal with escalated variances and queries e.g. Non-payment outside contractual agreements, banking, corporate credit cards, invoices from suppliers, airline queries, refunds/queries on airline tickets etc.
  • Ensure that the team’s financial information balances to the monthly management accounts
  • Review month end reconciliations prepared by the controllers
  • Submit reconciliations to Head of Finance Region for approval
  • Process journals to correct incorrect allocations following authorisation
  • Serve as an authorised signatory when checking controllers’ documentation prior
  • Release payments to suppliers as first release in terms of the authority matrix
  • Monitor input and output of the accounting systems and ensure the integrity of the information on the system
  • Allocate financial tasks to team members
  • Oversee and supervise the team to ensure that team members are able to achieve their outputs
  • Provide training to develop staff skills level to the required standard
  • Continuously provide feedback and coaching to ensure that the staff member/s
  • Ensure that department is fully staffed and that all work is covered and processed, and tasks are carried out regardless of absences
  • Performance manage the team and take corrective action as necessary
  • Manage the team on a day-to-day basis in terms of leave, and other staffing issues
  • Provide technical assistance to staff

Required Qualifications

Diploma/Certificate in Accounting, Finance/related field (Accounts Payable certification)

General Details

  • 4 - 5 years’ experience leading an accounting team
  • Microsoft Office Suite with intermediate Excel capability
