After-hours Travel Advisor (Permanent) Virtual -Retail

Job Description

This position is for a virtual, full time Senior Travel Consultant who is proficient in more than one GDS. An After-Hours Travel Consultant is responsible for, among other things, engaging in consultative conversations with client’s travelers with the purpose of making accurate travel reservations and meeting client’s travel needs. The ATO Advisor position’s working hours are varied as the hours of operation is from 17h00 to 08h00 weekdays and from 17h00 on a Friday to 08h00 on a Monday. Including public holidays.
 
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Arranging complex domestic and international travel for corporate client(s), including air, car rental, hotel, other ground transportation, transfers, etc.
  • Advising travelers of international travel requirements (passport, visa, inoculations, Covid regulations etc.)
  • Consistently demonstrating thorough understanding of client travel policy, guidelines, authorization requirements, procedures, etc.
  • Fostering a strong, productive relationship with the client while maintaining a clear understanding that the client is the client and not the employer
  • Counseling client and travelers on traveler safety considerations, government travel regulations, savings opportunities, and logistical routings and options
  • Research and resolve en-route traveller service concerns as soon as possible
  • Always Providing excellent customer service
  • Utilising time management skills to efficiently organise and process workload during designated shift times
  • Projecting a mature and professional demeanor when interacting with client, its employees, and colleagues.

  • Ensure delivery of SLA’s and the agreed turnaround time
  • Provide the booking confirmation once the reservation has been completed and issue the necessary travel vouchers once approval is received
  • Ensure the client is aware of Covid-19 travel requirements and is in possession of any documents required prior to departure
  • Ensure special services are booked (seating, meal requests etc)
  • Participate fully as a team member to assist as needed in completing all functions relating to servicing customers
  • Research and provide solutions to travel-related problems clients experience
  • Keep fully informed about all airline rules and regulations, and other industry requirements and accurately apply this information when making travel arrangements
  • Follow procedures, guidelines, and standards in areas of customer service, building Passenger Name Records (PNRs) and profiles, ticketing, utilisation of management information systems, productivity, attendance, use where possible of preferred suppliers and accuracy of work
  • Must be able to work under pressure
  • During emergency situations you might be called on to work additional hours to ensure client needs are met.
  • Attend staff and training meetings (virtual or in-person) for ongoing updates in the travel industry, office procedures and company updates.
  • Keep immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all potential problems or unusual matters of significance and take prompt corrective action where necessary or suggest alternative courses of action which may be taken.
  • Effective usage and understanding of all systems and technology Amadeus / Sabre / Travelport / AGM / JIRA / etc.
  • Exercise good judgement
  • Must work well independently

Required Qualifications

Required (not-negotiable):
  • Diploma in Travel and Tourism
  • Excellent geographical knowledge
  • 6 years’ experience as a Senior consultant plus 3 years in an Afterhours Senior role
  • Have worked in a shift environment (advantageous)
  • Proficiency on Amadeus, Sabre, Travelport, AGM
  • Proficiency in booking all aspects of domestic, regional, complex international travel as well as point-to-point international corporate
  • 100% usage of automation through our technology platforms.
  • Experienced in Corporate and leisure VIP travel and concierge level service
