Job Description

A leading inbound tour operator, based in Cape Town, with operations within Southern Africa is looking for a highly motivated, experienced person to join the company as General Manger.

Overall management of the business: ensuring the efficient day to day running of the business including operations, finance and administration.

Reporting to the Directors on financial performance, operations, etc.

Human Resources management: staff recruitment, training and development.

Achieving/exceeding sales targets and managing operating expenses to achieve/exceed budgeted profits.

Implementation of appropriate policies and procedures to ensure the professional operation of the business.

Ensuring the successful and smooth operation of all departments including manning services of passengers on tours.

Management and administration of the “Tour Operator ” software programmes.

Relationship building and networking with industry stakeholders including Travel Trade Partners, Suppliers, DMO’s and SAT

Contract negotiations and documentation with sub-contractors and suppliers.

Overseeing the Marketing and trade presence of the business.

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have worked in a management role for a minimum of 10 years within a similar organisation.

Management experience at a senior level reporting to Directors.

Relevant qualifications and/or experience in travel and tourism.

An in-depth understanding of an Inbound Tour Operator.

Experience dealing with international and domestic travel trade.
