Job Description

Duties and responsibilities

  • Coordinate the effective and efficient day to day running of the Business Development Team
  • Develop and implement departmental short, medium and long-term strategies with the COO and MD, in alignment with the Company's macro strategy
  • Ensure that the departmental short, medium and long term goals are achieved.
  • Partake in ensuring that Management goals and objectives are achieved.
  • Manage, develop and implement effective new business sales strategies and tactics
  • Be an active "player" in such customer retention and growth strategies
  • Compile revenue budgets in conjunction with the COO and MD
  • Ensure that such budgets are achieved
  • Ensure that the Wings Corporate Policy and Code of Conduct is promoted and practiced in the Department(s)
  • Participate in client engagement sessions
  • Travel nationally or internationally as required
  • Manage the onboarding of newly acquired clients
  • Attend regular monthly product presentations, Finance & Administration and Client Services meetings as and when required
  • Assist the New Business Team with presentations as and when required
  • Ensure that the monthly management reports are documented and communicated when required
  • Provide stakeholders with any ad hoc reports when requested
  • Ensure that training needs within the department are identified and addressed
  • Bring to the attention of the Head of Human Resources any training needs of the department and be involved in the departmental recruitment process
  • Ensure that staff receives the necessary training to consistently perform their duties
  • Participate in staff scorecard meetings
  • Ensure that new business activity is conducted in line with the Company's Code of Business Conduct
  • To continuously review and improve departmental Wings processes in terms of efficiency, quality and effectiveness

Required Qualifications

  • Qualifications and experience:
  • Grade 12 plus diploma or certificate in travel and tourism.
  • At least 10 years sales experience in Travel
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in managing a Sales team
  • Competent in English Business writing
