Job Description

The main objective of this role is to co-ordinate travel arrangements in accordance with company procedures and policies, ensuring profitability and delivering service excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of having had at least 2 to 5 years of Senior Travel.
  • Must have Grade 12, high school education. Must show proof of past travel planning.
  • An associate's, bachelors or master's degree in travel and tourism will increase your marketability.
  • Subjects typically studied include sales, reservation taking, destination marketing, domestic and international geography, and ticketing is required.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized and trustworthy, Must also work well under pressure.
  • Share a sense of adventure and familiarity with all aspects of traveling that will help enhance the clients' experiences.
  • Must have good problem-solving abilities to accommodate customer requests, while relying on your persuasive nature to deal with transportation, entertainment, food and lodging providers.
  • Must have strong customer service skills, to be competitive in the market place.
  • Success in the field depends on good communication skills -- listening, speaking on the phone and explaining travel details-- that complement a dedication to go the extra mile for clients.
  • In light of the growing client preference for email communication, this job demands strong writing abilities.
  • Travel consultants also must be adept at using reservation systems, such as Amadeus GDS, PC Literate especially in MS Word, Excell, Outlook must be able to work in the latest Windows and Office Versions.
  • Must have knowledge of languages, world geography and cultures in order to advise and inform the clients.
  • Flexibility and adaptive to change.
  • Discretion and awareness of confidentiality.

The senior travel consultant title is not to be mistaken for a consultant who works specifically on senior or the mature traveller trips. The senior travel consultant is senior by experience and will have spent at least 4 years as an active consultant. He or she must have strong domestic & International travel knowledge.
