Job Description

Comair Limited, a JSE listed Aviation Company, is looking for applicants for a Product Manager (Domestic and Regional Travel) based in Bonaero Park, Gauteng at the Head Office.

The Product Manager is required to ensure Comair has competitive travel products to offer to customers in line with the Travel and distribution objectives. The Product Manager reports directly to the Senior Product Manager located at the Hub in Bonaero Park. This position is responsible for managing product within Southern African selected key accounts and specific hotel groups. This includes obtaining and negotiating the most competitive rates, last minute specials, allocation or free sell, supplying product related information, and ensuring that all products are loaded, published and packaged on all web sites. This position is responsible for sourcing the products and promoting the product as a package, as well as standalone on the distribution channels and within other marketing channels. Packaged and stand alone products are then marketed to the various identified target audiences. The type of marketing would be dependent on the chosen brand but in general, this takes place by publishing the information on the Travel Websites in the form of banners, articles and deals, electronic newsletters, radio adverts, newspaper adverts and any other campaign opportunities. The Product Manager is therefore required to ensure that the packages are competitive related to other tour operating companies and travel websites and ensure the best rates with suppliers are negotiated and contracted. Internal liaison takes place with Kulula & mtbeds Brand Managers in marketing (for all Kulula advertisements), Web design team for all creative artwork, banners and landing pages on various websites, updates to Reservations Manager of deals, systems manager for RWA, Open Jaw & ERES (uploading of new contracts and updated rates, and other product managers (to share information). External liaison takes place with suppliers and airlines. The Product Manager may also be responsible for negotiating joint marketing contributions to further enhance sales opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (Essential)
  • Tertiary Qualification in Travel and Tourism or sales related (Desirable)
  • GDS (Amadeus, Sabre Galileo) (Desirable)
  • 5 years work experience in a Travel environment (Essential) with specific experience in the following 3 areas:
  1. Face to face interaction (networking) with current and potential clients (Essential)
  2. Understanding and dealing with contracting and rates terms and conditions (Essential)
  3. Dealing with properties (Researching, negotiating rates and deals, Accounts, Marketing and Co-operative opportunities) (Essential)
  • A current and valid motor vehicle licence (Essential)
  • Own motor vehicle (Essential)
  • Experience with Reservations (Desirable)
