Purpose and context of the job
Comair Limited, a JSE listed Aviation Company, is looking for an applicant for a Travel Consultant (Kulula Holidays) position based in Gauteng, Randburg at the Comair Travel offices. The Travel Consultant is responsible for generating revenue, maximize productivity, maintain high service levels and reach targets through the fulfilment of email, phone, web and direct enquiries for new or existing customers.
Key Performance Areas
- To customize itineraries, provisional bookings and quotations in order for the customer to use our product, secure a booking, and continue to book through us.
- To deliver prompt, efficient and effective service within required timeframes in order to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- To convert a maximum number of calls and enquiries into secured bookings which increase our revenue and margin.
- To ensure pre-payment is received by specified dates in order to avoid penalties and ensure bookings are still secure.
- To build relationships with suppliers in order to ensure the best possible rates and confirmed bookings.
- To broaden and maintain product knowledge in order to extend the best possible service to customers.
- To perform general administrative tasks required within the department.

Required Qualifications
Qualification:
- Grade 12 (Essential)
- Tertiary qualification in travel & tourism (Essential)
- GDS qualification (Essential)
- 3 years’ experience in an IATA registered travel department or agency, handling domestic, regional & International reservations of which 2 years interacting directly with clients (Essential)
- Additional 1 years’ experience in a wholesale travel department or agency (Desirable)

General Details
Travel Consultant reports directly to the Reservations Team Leader. This position is accountable for confirming bookings based on enquiries received from the customers. The critical component of this position is to ensure that all enquiries are converted into sales, targets & revenue is reached and that all customers are serviced as per their requirements & needs. They liaise extensively with the client and suppliers to ensure all customer needs are met. They provide information & recommendations to the clients to ensure their requirements are included in the specified booking (flight, car, Hotel). Internal liaison therefore takes place within the reservations team. External liaison takes place with customer, airlines, 3rd parties, suppliers and reservations agents on the supplier side.
