Job Description
The marketing manager is responsible for the strategic direction of all marketing activity for Travel and Tour services and the production and implementation of detailed marketing plans that cover a wide range of responsibilities including market research, product development, marketing planning and control, pricing, distribution, promotion including advertising, direct marketing, sales promotion and public relations, selling and after sales service.
Working closely with the product and sales teams, the marketing manager will devise and implement strategic plans to successfully promote the company and its products through online and offline advertising, campaigns and PR activity.
Travel and tour companies produce, promote and sell holidays and travel related products to the leisure or corporate markets. Marketing managers must be able to develop specialist, professional and competitive travel products to meet the demands for inbound and outbound travel across all market segments, from basic online bookings to highly personalized tailor-made packages and travel experiences.
Marketing managers are responsible for developing strategies to hit or exceed sales targets regardless of the size of the outlet or products offered. Depending on the size of the company and the specific managerial role, tasks could include:
• promoting and marketing the business, sometimes to new or niche markets;
• managing budgets and maintaining statistical/financial records;
• selling travel products and tour packages;
• sourcing products and destinations to meet consumer demands for bespoke travel and sustainable
tourism
• taking part in familiarisation visits to new destinations in order to gain information on issues and amenities
of interest to consumers;
• liaising with travel partners, including airlines and hotels, to manage bookings and schedules, often a year
in advance;
• dealing with customer enquiries with a view to meeting and exceeding their expectations;
• overseeing the smooth, efficient running of the sales and marketing department
• constantly motivating the sales team to hit their targets and ensure company profitability;
• meeting regularly with team leaders to give them sales figures and plan how they approach their work;
• meeting company directors who advise on strategy and finding out about any local issues and future trends;
• organising incentives, bonus schemes and competitions;
• communicating with sales consultants and providing encouragement, help and advice

Required Qualifications
Qualification:
* Matric and Travel or Marketing Qualification with minimum four years Travel Industry experience
* Good working Knowledge of Amadeus / Galileo and MS Office must include all 4 (Word, Excel, Power point
& Outlook).
* Ability to work confidently with Internet Based Software Applications
* Minimum experience of two years in supporting Marketing, Public Relations or Advertising function,
Corporate travel industry experience a plus.
* Proficiency with social media applications, search engines, content management systems, SEO, and other
online marketing programs/products.
* Detail oriented with outstanding project management skills in a fast-paced and rapidly changing
environment.
* Must have exceptional writing, editing and verbal communication skills.
* Strong conceptual skills with good knowledge related to art, design, graphics and typography.
* Self-starter with the ability to work independently, and able to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
* Creative “out of the box” thinker.
* Excellent geographical knowledge and preferable that the candidate has travelled overseas previously
* Team player who produces quality work that is accurate, complete and on time
* Excellent communicator both visual, verbal and vocal
* Self-developer who thrives on learning and applying that learning
* Dynamic enough to think beyond orders and go the extra mile at all times
