Job Description

Thompsons Africa is currently recruiting for a FIT Reservations Consultant, joining our USA team. The position is based at our Head Office in Durban.

The position’s main responsibility is to provide quotations and the subsequent travel arrangements to our customer; focusing on service excellence and the promotion of sales; whilst being passionate about delivering WOW experiences to our customer and guests.

The FIT Reservations Consultant’s key activities / Duties / Tasks:

• Achieve and maintain an excellent relationship with your customer – identify their requirements and expectations.

• Work in a sales minded way, where you are always trying to ‘close the deal’ offering alternatives, descriptions and WOW experiences.
• Manage profit margins as set out by business – use preferred suppliers and best available deals and rates. Negotiate to increase margin where appropriate.

• Avoid errors and write-offs by using the tools to your disposal, including but not limited to checking profit reports, reconfirming services, checking confirmations against quotes as well as using tasks in Travel Studio.

• Increase quote conversion by chasing up constantly with your customer on bookings not converted.

• Swift and professional resolution of customer complaints and / or queries.

• Resolve account queries within deadlines set by Accounts Department. Non debtors to be invoiced and debtors’ statements to be attended to timeously.

• Always challenge the status quo.

• Continuously apply your learnings in your role in order to constantly grow and develop in your position and as an individual.

Required Qualifications

Qualification:
• Experienced in consulting- minimum 2 years’ experience

• Excellent level of computer literacy

• Solid knowledge of tourism product and geography in Southern Africa

• Is passionate about delivering an excellent travelers experience in Southern Africa

• Strong customer focus

• Organisation and time management

• Excellent communication and people/ inter-personal skills
