KEY PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
• Ensures management and preparation of periodical financial statements and reports, as per regulatory and legal requirements.
• Reports on overall performance of the respective area of responsibility and advises management on all financial matters.
• Manages the production of operational and risk reports for management consolidation and analysis.
• Evaluate financial reporting systems, accounting and collection procedures and makes recommendations for changes to procedures, operating systems; budgets and other financial management functions.
• Coordinates closely with auditors, government bodies, banks and other stakeholders.
• Sets up internal control and accounting procedures for all branches to ensure proper consolidation.
• Manages the budgeting process and investigates variances with financial and operational standards.
• Evaluates data pertaining to costs in order to plan budgets.
• Manages the finance department to ensure proper record keeping and sound financial position.
• Prepares forms and manuals, in conjunction with all stakeholders, for finance personnel and manages their work activities.
• Surveys operations, to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend; develop and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
• Conducts reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities
• Conducts regional internal audits.
• Approve or reject, or coordinate the approval and rejection of lines of credit.
• Manage all foreign exchange transactions in conjunction with Rennies Group Policy.
• Oversee the flow of cash and financial instruments.
• Recruit staff members and oversee training programs. The structure needs to support the needs of the business.
• Plan; manage and coordinate the activities of financial department workers in branches.
INTERNAL CONTROLS
• Formulates, with all relevant stakeholders, financial management policies and procedures.
• The development, in conjunction with all relevant stakeholders and management, of internal control systems designed to safeguard the assets of the business against identified risks and the development and maintenance of processes to ensure effective support from the finance team to the Operations and Clientele.
• Management of the financial risk of the business.
AUDIT
• Internal Audit – Planning and implementation of the internal audit plan, in conjunction with all relevant stakeholders and ensuring clean reports by addressing the issues identified.
• External audit – Assisting in the planning and implementation of the year end audit process, and participate in managing the relationship with the external auditors.
BUSINESS ANALYSIS
• Assisting in the management, setting and implementation of appropriate financial benchmarks, so as to provide the business with relevant, decision making information.
• Perform the analysis required to timeously identify trends in the business requiring operational action.
• Develop, in conjunction with all relevant stakeholders and analyse information to assess the current and future financial status of the relevant business.
• Participate in the determination and review of client fees.
• Review reports of securities transactions and price lists in order to analyse market conditions.
REPORTING REQUIREMENTS
• Management of flash reports, monthly reports and all other financial reports.
• Ensure timeous and accurate reporting to stakeholders: Rennies Travel EXCO; Bidtravel; Bidserv and Bidvest.
BUDGET
• Drive the overall budget process within the region.
• Assist in the management of the consolidation, review and presentation of the budgets to EXCO.
• Provide professional support to managers regarding the management of their budgets.
WORKING CAPITAL MANAGEMENT
• Manage the debtors so that Rennies Travel; BidTravel; BidServ and Bidvest targets are exceeded.
• Review collection reports to determine the status of collections and the amounts of outstanding balances and furthermore, submit delinquent accounts to attorneys, or outside agencies for collection.
• Manage the creditors so that Rennies Travel; BidTravel; BidServ and Bidvest cash flow targets are exceeded.
• Drive and optimise cash flow management.
• Management and preparation of forecasts
TAXATION
• Assist in providing details on VAT upon request from Corporate Office.
• Assist in providing all relevant information pertaining to the calculation and submission of all statutory tax returns
CLIENT INTIMACY
• Assist whenever required in building and maintaining relationships with suppliers and clients.
• Support the acquisition of new business from a financial perspective (relationship with account management).
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
• Manage the performance management process for direct reports.
• Manage the development of the direct reports.
• Ensure that the regional finance structures are appropriate and optimal for the business.
• Ensure the structure is adequately resourced with the correct people.
• Ensure that the promotion of equality of opportunity and challenging discrimination are central to strategic development.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
• Develop and manage the finance department, ensuring that the Overall Group Financial Strategy of the business is achieved.

Required Qualifications
Qualification:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Matric certificate (non-negotiable)
• B Degree in Accounting (non-negotiable)
• CA (Advantageous but not mandatory)
• Computer Literacy (with ERP experience)
• 5 years in a financial management role
• Knowledge of supplier processes and transactions
ADVANTAGEOUS (nice to have)
• Experience at a Travel Management Company in a finance role

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Financial Manager will be responsible for the overall accounting; auditing; reporting; budgeting and financial control functions of the company, including tax planning and risk management. This includes the management of the preparation, examination and analysis of accounting records, financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy; completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
