Job Description
We have a fantastic opportunity to join our BDM Team at Cruises International. Your proven Sales Executive, Business Development and Customer Service experience is what we are looking for to grow our sales team.
The ideal Business Development Manager is a highly sales driven, passionate, collaborative, outgoing, creative oriented individual. A seasoned candidate will demonstrate the following skills and take on the below responsibilities. Reporting to the Sales Senior Manager you will develop your own call plan by segmenting the relevant trade partners.
It is the BDM’s responsibility to ensure that the Sales are coming in and desired results are being met. Make sure you are living up to the expectations of the organisation.
Your sales focus will be outbound, working with the Travel Trade to make the agents lives as easy as possible and to communicate sales initiatives to channel partners and customers.

Required Qualifications
Skills Required:
- Must have previous Sales Executive/Business Development Experience
- Highly sales and customer service driven.
- Strong Negotiation and Presentation skills.
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate requests and instructions to individuals and groups.
- Commitment to, and enthusiasm for sales, client service and delivery.
- Ability to work co-operatively and effectively within the team and the organisation.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, solve problems, manage and meet deadlines and maintain a high quality of work.
- Highly motivated and responsible, with the ability to work with minimum supervision.
- The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong Negotiation and Training Skills & Business Acumen.
- Intimately know and be able to communicate a product's features and benefits to channel partners through training initiatives.
Experience Level:
3 - 5 years experience within the Travel industry in a sales environment.

General Details
Main Responsibilities:
- As the BDM your key objective is to grow sales within the Travel Industry
- You will be required to meet sales targets, per month per region, while maintaining existing clients, and obtaining new business for achieving the set sales targets within your region.
- You will be required to work on a weekly call plan, with an expectation of visiting a minimum of 16 to 20 agents per week.
- It is the BDM’s duty to map out a call plan, by segmenting your agents from A to D.
- You will be required to approach and develop 2 new agents per week.
- Establishing plans with individual agencies based on the sales plan and implementation thereof.
- Approaching and developing smaller travel agencies, previously untapped market.
- Identify Training needs within the Travel Industry.
- It is your duty to map a full list of all existing customers and to develop all new customers by getting them trained and skilled to become Cruise Experts.
- Work with the Brand Managers for feedback, concepts and finalisation of training material and platforms.
- Ensuring trade portal is updated with all relevant information relevant to brands and training material.
- Availability to travel on an educational / ship visits, if and when required.
- Feedback on competitors, advise on what they are doing with regards to training, together with identifying gaps / opportunities related to training within the industry eg: Cruise Expert programme.
- To report back to the Senior Sales Manager on weekly sales visits as well as to forward any concerns from management in the trade.
- To attend trade shows, workshops and conferences.
- Ensure to obtain relevant customers contact details and update the marketing database accordingly for ongoing campaign awareness and guide customers in their decision making process.
- Intimately know and be able to communicate a product's features and benefits to channel partners through training initiatives.
- Recommend, select and compile the right packages together for relevant clients.
- Assist the travel trade to answer customer queries and provide solutions.
- Make suggestions and encourage purchase of products.
- Maintain call and sales records
- Stay current with cruise deals and marketing offers.
- Report relevant results and give feedback to the Sales Senior Manager.
- Office hours is Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm, you will be required to attend evening/weekend/out of office functions/Sales Events.
