Payroll Officer (Permanent) Western Cape- Tygervalley -Other

Job Description

Key responsibilities

  • Collating all monthly information from all departments, check and validate all information for correctness.
  • Process monthly payroll accurately as per deadline dates.
  • Process payroll changes including new hire and termination paperwork, personnel changes.
  • Assist employees with payroll and system-related questions.
  • Accurate month-end journal.
  • Prepare and load all third-party payments.
  • Submit all statutory requirements on time when needed.
  • Process benefit enrolment forms and changes (e.g. Medical Aid and Provident Fund).
  • Effective management of scanning reports.
  • Reconcile payroll run to the general ledger.
  • Perform monthly payroll reconciliations.
  • Review and reconcile human resources and benefit related invoices, and process for payment.
  • Prepare annual worker’s compensation reports and request WC COC and UIF COC annually.
  • Track and report costs on key payroll and benefit items for senior management.
  • Set-up HR Premier, capture information and monthly reports to be submitted to Management.
  • ESS and Leave Administration.
  • Basic understanding of relevant labour legislation.

Required Qualifications

Qualification, Experience, and Knowledge

  • Matric with Mathematics and Accounting. Preference will be given to persons with a relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Payroll or Human Resources.
  • 5-7 years’ experience on VIP Premier Payroll up to reconciliation level.
  • Experience in HR Premier and ESS System.
  • Computer literate with MS Word, Advanced Excel and Outlook.
  • Must have strong analytical and numeracy skills.
  • Must be able to reconcile payroll data and prepare 3rd Party Payments.
  • Strong knowledge on SA tax legislation.
  • Knowledge of compliance.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have driver’s license and vehicle.
